Michael Solomatin is an Attorney at Diaz Trade Law and an active member of the Florida, District of Columbia, and New Jersey bars.  Michael has extensive experience with import and export procedures from having managed compliance programs for large-scale telecommunication, energy and technology American multinational corporations as a Global Trade Compliance Account Lead.  Some of Michael’s experience includes tariff classification; determining country of origin; assessing the applicability of anti-dumping and countervailing duties; establishing export license requirements; submitting export filings; responding to CBP’s requests for information, and maximizing client savings through Free Trade Agreements, Section 301 exclusions, and U.S. goods returned.  Michael’s ability to effectively utilize ACE data, metrics, and key performance indicators of his team and customs brokers allowed for expeditious customs clearance times and issue resolution, as well as streamlined compliance processes across AMER, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC regions.

Michael is a well-rounded practitioner of law.  He started his law career at the 20th Judicial Circuit for Collier County, Florida as a Trial Court Staff Attorney where he advised and supported circuit judges on civil, criminal, and appellate matters during the trial phase. Michael’s affinity for International Law is emphasized by his Bachelor of Arts degree in in International Business and Economics; concentration in International Law during his law studies; and his experience from having been the Managing Editor of his law school’s International Law Journal.

Michael is a United States Air Force veteran who held a secret security clearance and supported Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom as an Aerospace Control and Warning Systems operator, instructor, and evaluator.  Michael is knowledgeable regarding aerial platforms, weapons of same, and air defense systems.  Michael was honorably discharged while having attained a leadership rank as a noncommissioned officer.  He is fluent in the Russian language.  Michael continues to endure a long-term love-hate relationship with staying in shape, and training for and participating in triathlons.
