Thank you to Jen Diaz and Linda Schmid for an informative presentation on gender and trade. The international statistics from the WTO, the UN, and other sources on factors such as the costs of starting a business in different countries, access to credit and financial services sheds light on challenges and opportunities. I didn’t know there are gender provisions in some trade agreements. This webinar helps widen my perspective on the big picture of the effects regulations have on individuals, especially those with less access to advantages, and how something like tariffs on steel and lumber trickle down to increasing housing costs and creating difficult decisions for women and families about how to spend limited income as costs go up. The lack of money then available for childcare, nutrition, and housing affects the quality of life for the whole community. Thanks for the links to stay in touch.
